Don Gordon announces his Florida 2000 election plan

"If you can't beat them, cheat them."

Loser candidate tries to steal the election in the courts. Sound familiar to anyone? Hint: it's not George Bush in Florida. Don Gordon, loser in the 49th Ward aldermanic election last week, is taking his GOP playbook to court this week. He has challenged the results of the election on the basis of ... nothing. While my fellow bloggers disgrace themselves in their slavish service to DG, they have failed to produce a single shred of evidence there was anything wrong with the election last week. On behalf of the blogging community, I want to apologize. We're not all bananas!

Don Gordon working to undo minority voting rights

It has become apparent that Don Gordon does not truly believe in the democratic process. Alderman Joe Moore won a majority of votes on Tuesday but Don Gordon just can’t come to grips with defeat. He has made it known that he might challenge the election results. That’s a pretty ballsy move coming from a campaign that systematically sought to challenge the rights of minority voters during Tuesday’s elections. There are reports of Gordon’s Goons challenging people’s right to vote in every precinct. Gordon’s thugs were constantly poll gating. They put in so many unfounded complaint calls to the Board of Election that even they are now upset with Gordon. A bunch of Gordon poll watchers were ejected for doing what they were trained to do, namely, cheat the democratic process especially when a minority walked up to vote. Despite all of this, now Gordon wants to challenge the results. Sorry Don, in this country, people still have the right to vote – no matter the color of their skin.

Don Gordon Loser Watch. Day 2

Two days after losing the election, why is Don Gordon still trying to prove he’s a Republican? Sound bananas? It is. Don Gordon has started spinning conspiracy theories about how everyone got together to defeat him on Tuesday. Time to put up or go home, Don. Show us the proof!

I really hope Gordon is not serious about this recount. He is now claiming that there were 2,000 invalid votes amongst the total. He has no evidence at all for these claims. Stop being a sore looser Don Gordon. 2000 votes are not invalid just because they were cast by minorities.

Gordon Salutes the voters

Alderman Joe Moore thanks community for election victory

A hand count of the last outstanding precinct in the 49th Ward on Tuesday confirmed 49th Ward Alderman Joe Moore’s re-election. The final count placed Moore 247 votes ahead of his opponent, Don Gordon, giving Moore 51.6% of the votes to Gordon’s 48.4%.

“I want to thank the voters who took part in yesterday’s election for our victory, and I look forward to representing everyone in my community for another four years whether they voted for me or my opponent,” Moore said.
Moore ran his re-election campaign on the promise to fight for a new living wage ordinance and to reform the Chicago City Council. Moore was re-elected by the same wave of progressive voting that produced a dramatic change in the composition of the Chicago City Council. “Chicago voters clearly voted for a progressive, independent government on Tuesday. I plan to make sure that they get it,” Moore said

Joe Moore will not be Swift Boated

Big money republicans are trying to take over the 49th ward. David Herro who is for big business and against the living-wage gave Don Gordon $60,000 in an attempt to steal the election. Don Gordon gladly accepted this money because he supports a Republican agenda in the 49th Ward. Read this Tribune article for more information.

In new attack ads airing on Chicago TV stations, Ald. Joe Moore (49th) criticizes the major donor to challenger Don Gordon for his ties to Republicans.
Gordon's campaign has received $60,000 from Gold Coast mutual fund manager David Herro, who, according to federal records, gave $5,000 in 2004 to Swift Boat Vets and POWs for Truth. That group funded attack ads against Democratic presidential nominee John Kerry, a Vietnam War veteran.
Moore's commercials refer to Herro as "the same Republican millionaire behind the sleazy Swift boat veterans' ads from George Bush." The 30-second spot is airing on Channels 2, 5, 7, 9 and 32, Moore said.
